Inverness dance group of disabled and non-disabled teenagers to shine on region’s biggest stage
More than 20 dance groups are set to shine on the region’s biggest platform - including a debut performance for Horizons Inverness.
An inclusive dance group for disabled and non-disabled teenagers who meet monthly at Eden Court, they will be performing for the first time alongside Eden Court Youth Dance Group, giving them the opportunity to express themselves and demonstrate the new skills they have developed.
They are among the people set to take to the stage at Eden Court’s biennial dance event Elevate - Celebrating Dance in the Highlands which returns next month to celebrate the breadth of talent in the area’s community dance scene.
Also from Eden Court is the Elevate Ensemble, an inter-generational group who have created a piece of choreography specifically for this year’s event.
This year’s performance on November 11 will give a stage to groups hailing from Inverness to Skye, Wick to Fort William and even Elgin.

The inclusive event highlights the dedication of dance teachers throughout the Highlands, who offer stylistically varied classes for everyone.
An independent panel selected all participating groups, based on the quality and creativity of the performances and choreography, plus the diversity of styles and ages.
Louise Marshall, Eden Court’s producer for dance and accessible arts, said: “This event is one of the highlights of my role at Eden Court. It’s a joy to see so many dedicated dancers showcasing their passion on the Empire stage - an opportunity many would not otherwise get. It’s not about being the best; it’s about sharing the joy of dancing. Come along and be inspired!”
