Pictures captured show the damage a fire at Tomnahurich Cemetery Hill caused last night.

Two Scottish Fire and Rescue Service appliances from the city attended the scene after the alarm was raised at 9.52 pm last night.

The crews, using hose reel jets, quickly brought the worst of the flames under control, with the stop message to headquarters relayed at 11.06 pm – an hour and a quarter after the blaze was first reported.

The incident came just as an ‘extreme danger’ wildfire warning was issued for the north of Scotland, which will remain in place until Monday, May 12.

Police Scotland has been contacted for comment on how the fire started.
