Demand for Bryan Adam’s Inverness gig at Eden Court went ‘beyond expectations’ according to venue
Representatives of an Inverness venue said demand for a much-anticipated concert in spring was “even greater than anticipated” as ticketing sales were hit by a website malfunction.
Sales for priority tickets for Bryan Adams’ live performance at Eden Court in spring - which was first announced on Monday - opened this morning however the huge demand caused the system to fail, with many hopeful ticket buyers being logged out during the purchase process multiple times.
Many complained that they were unable to buy more than one ticket - where the maximum per person was supposed to be eight seats, and that by the time they returned to the booking websites, the seats they were trying to buy had already been sold.
According to the venue, although they anticipated “extraordinarily high traffic” today, the demand was beyond their expectations.
An Eden Court spokesperson said: “This morning we sold out of our Eden Court Friends allocation of tickets for Bryan Adams.
“We have 2500 Friends members, all of whom had access to our priority booking period of 48 hours. It was anticipated that demand would far outstrip the supply and this has left people feeling disappointed.
“An artist as popular as Bryan Adams, who normally performs stadium-sized events will always create excitement when performing an intimate gig at a smaller capacity venue.
“We worked with our web provider and our ticket sales provider to prepare in advance for the demand but it was even greater than we anticipated and this, as would happen with any website experiencing extraordinarily high traffic, created problems.”
With many having purchased a Friends of Eden court Membership (priced at £27 a year) in order to be first in line for the ticket allocation today, many were left disappointed that they could not complete the purchase due to the system’s fault.
They continued: “We’ve emailed all of our Friends members, posted on social media and posted on the event booking page that any customers who are unhappy in relation to the on-sale for any reason should contact us directly and we’ll do our best to help them and assist on a case-by-case basis. The email for this is boxoffice@eden-court.co.uk. Customers can also visit in person or call us on 01463 234 234.”
A small allocation of tickets will be available on general sale on Friday morning at 9AM.
