Does this look ‘desolate’ or ‘sterile’ to you? Central Belt Greens MSP sparks anger with ‘ruined’ landscape comments
A Greens MSP has sparked anger from those in rural Scotland by claiming that wind farm objectors use “images of desolate, sterile hillsides” to oppose new turbines.
In the Tweet Mr Greer wrote the landscapes have “already been ruined for decades/centuries, usually by shooting estates & intense sheep farming.”
The West Scotland MSP appears to be responding to current anger about so-called super turbines
Hundreds of super turbines are planned for rural Scotland with some structures up to 850ft high – that would be taller than any UK building except The Shard and the skyscraper 22 Bishopsgate in London.
Environmental campaigners fear that Scotland’s scenery, arguably its greatest tourism asset, will be harmed by the projects.
