Now that festive decorations have been taken down residents have been urged by Highland Council to recycle their Christmas trees.

The local authority's waste and recycling centres can process the trees and ensure they don't simply wind up in landfill.

"When it’s time to take down your Christmas decorations, recycle your real Christmas tree at your local recycling centre," said a spokesperson for the council, urging people to "recycle for Highland" and have a "zero waste Christmas".
