Inverness drink-driver caught after leaving supermarket car park

A drink-driver was reported to police after he was seen leaving a supermarket car park in Culloden in the late afternoon.

James Begg (49), of Kenneth Street, Inverness was tracked down by officers at his home on September 15 last year where he gave a positive breath test and returned a reading of 79mcgs of alcohol when the limit is 22mcgs.

He admitted driving with excess alcohol and was fined £300 at Inverness Sheriff Court. He was also banned from driving for 16 months by Sheriff Neil Wilson who certified Begg as suitable for the drink-driver rehabilitation scheme.

If he successfully completes it, he will reduce his ban by four months.
