Early morning parking banned by Highland Council in part of Inverness City Centre Street to ensure safety of minibus tour passengers
A ban is being imposed on early morning parking in part of an Inverness city centre street to allow minibus tour operators to collect passengers.
Drivers are now unable to stop in a designated stretch of layby on Union Street between 7am and 9am.
Highland Council says the temporary traffic regulation order (TTRO) is to ensure the safety of those boarding mini-tour buses.
The TTRO is already in operation and will run at least until March 1, 2026.
A council spokeswoman said: “A temporary traffic regulation Order is now in force on Union Street, Inverness to allow mini-tour operators to pick up passengers at their designated collection point, within the safety of the layby, and prevent the need for minibuses to stop on the carriageway.
“To ensure the designated collection point (highlighted in blue on the map) is clear and provides sufficient space for minibuses to pull in, stop and safely allow passengers to board, parking is no longer permitted in this area between 07:00–09:00am, Monday to Sunday.
“Between the hours of 09:00 and 18:00 (Monday to Sunday), it will retain its normal use as a loading area.”
