Eden Court in Inverness announces new near-lockdown closure date
Eden Court will close again from Tuesday, follow the First Minister’s announcement yesterday evening.
The region's biggest arts venue will not reopen before January 21.
It casts doubt over its plans to bring back live entertainment to audiences next month.
A statement from Eden Court read: "We have loved welcoming you back over the last eight weeks and thank everyone who has visited us and helped in our recovery."
Chief executive James Mackenzie-Blackman said: "I have learnt many things this year but today I’m reminded of how resilient my team are and how, over the last eight weeks of being open, loved Eden Court is by everyone who visits.
"We’ll power down but will power back up soon – because our civic responsibility is to be open."
He added: "The big issue is our plans from late January when we hoped to restart live performance. I doubt we will jump from tier four, right back to tier one. Lots to unravel and think about."
First Minister Nicola Sturgeon said last night that the Highlands would move from tier one to tier four on Boxing Day in a bid to halt the spread of coronavirus. In tier four, several types of businesses must close, including leisure and entertainment.
