A9 roadworks at Drumochter south of Inverness to involve 24-hour single lane closure and overnight convoy for 3 weeks
Motorists are being advised of potential delays on the A9 south of Inverness starting later this month to enable essential roadworks.
Surfacing and road marking improvements on the southbound dual carriageway at Drumochter will start on Thursday March 27 at 7pm.
BEAR Scotland, Transport Scotland’s north west trunk road operating company, said all works are scheduled to be completed by 6am on Saturday April 19.
• Inverness roadworks for drainage investigations will see part of A9 down to single-lane use
• A9 roadworks to reduce dual carriageway to single lane near Kessock Bridge for 3 weeks
To ensure the safety of workers and road users, a 24-hour single-lane closure will be implemented on the southbound carriageway during the surfacing works.
Additionally, a convoy system will be in use between 7pm and 6am.
While road markings are being carried out on Friday April 18, the road will be fully open during the day switching to a single lane closure with convoy from 7pm until 6am on Saturday April 19.
Access through the works site for emergency services will be maintained at all times.
Ian Stewart, BEAR Scotland’s north west representative said: “This crucial surfacing project on the A9 Drumochter Duals will fix existing defects and significantly enhance the driving experience for all motorists.
“Our teams are committed to completing these works quickly and with safety as our top priority.
“We extend our gratitude to the local community and road users for their patience while we complete the improvements.
“To minimise delays, we recommend that motorists plan their journeys in advance by consulting the Traffic Scotland website for real-time travel updates.”
