Defence solicitor Duncan Henderson told Sheriff Neil Wilson: "It was an extremely foolish thing to do."

Sheriff Wilson ordered 46-year-old Brown to carry out 130 hours of unpaid community work and banned him from driving for two years.

He told him: "Driving while disqualified is effectively a contempt of court. If you are convicted of this again the court will not be so lenient."
