Culloden Held in Our Hearts event helps raise money to support families after pregnancy and baby loss
An Easter family fun day was a touching tribute to a much-loved little boy named Albie who tragically died at just one years old from sudden unexplained death in childhood.
Originally planned to mark what would have been his birthday, the Culloden event, which took place on Sunday, April 13, began as a personal memorial.
But it naturally grew into a wider community fundraiser - honouring not only Albie McKenzie, but all the little ones who are so dearly missed by their families.
Organised by Held in Our Hearts, a charity supporting families after pregnancy and baby loss, the day was a beautiful blend of remembrance, connection, and support.
Albie’s legacy now lives on through the charity’s work, helping provide counselling and comfort to bereaved families across the Highlands and beyond.
The event featured 18 local stalls, award-winning Highland shortbread, an ice cream van, an Easter egg hunt, and a colouring competition for children - creating a joyful and welcoming atmosphere for all who attended.
This was Held in Our Hearts’ first independently organised community fundraiser in the Highlands, and the response was overwhelmingly positive.
The event raised £550 and, perhaps most meaningfully, welcomed around 20 families - an outcome the charity described as truly heartwarming.

Annabelle Gauntlett, Highland fundraiser for Held in Our Hearts, said: “I was absolutely thrilled with the turnout at our event!
“This was our very first charity-led fundraiser here in the Highlands, and it was heartwarming to see so many families and little ones enjoying the Easter egg hunt and all the fun competitions we had planned.
“Supporting families across the Highlands through community events like this is incredibly important to us, so it was a real joy to bring something special to Culloden.
“I’m really excited about what’s ahead - we have some fantastic events coming up, including our very first Highland gala!”
