Festive Inverness storytelling fun with a positive message
Youngsters enjoyed festive storytelling at Inverness Botanic Gardens.
Children’s author Barbara Henderson and musician Liza Mulholland performed at the Tropical House at Inverness Botanic Gardens recently.
Youngsters and families were treated to three separate half-hour story sessions, evocatively brought to life by the author of such popular books as Fir for Luck, Punch, Wilderness Wars, The Siege of Caerlaverock and The Reluctant Rebel.
Tuneful accompaniment came from Highland folk artist Ms Mulholland, with a positive message on the theme of inspiring and powerful women.
Staged by the Rape and Sexual Abuse Service Highland (RASASH), it was a free event but with donations raising valuable funds.
“It was fantastic – a lot of fun with lots of participation,” RASASH board of trustees chairwoman Cathy Christie said.
“It was the end of 16 days of activism against gender-based violence from late November into December. It was important awareness raising and we wanted to make it a real family affair.”
