Film audiences set to enjoy welcome return of drive-in cinema in the Highlands
Film audiences will be able to sing along to screen classics such as Mamma Mia at a drive-in cinema in Inverness next month.
The programme, to be presented at the Caledonian Stadium on May 1, also features The Greatest Showman and Grease.
A drive-in cinema was held at the football ground last summer and attracted hundreds of people desperate for a bit of normality in their lives after months of lockdown.
It returned in November with a festive film programme including Elf, Home Alone, The Grinch and It’s a Wonderful Life.
With the company now staging 14 events in 12 cities in a safe and socially-distanced setting in the lead-up to summer, Inverness is again included on the tour.
Callum Campbell, founder of The Drive-In Cinema, set up the business last March when the first wave of coronavirus restrictions were put into place.
"We are so excited to be taking the best musical singalong movies of all time on tour across the UK, and to give people something to look forward to," he said.
"The Drive-In Cinema is a truly magical movie experience and a brilliant event for all the family – the perfect combination of nostalgia, novelty and entertainment."
He added: "It’s been a tough time for event promoters but we are grateful to have created an event that is Covid-proof and that can go ahead in just a month’s time – unlike many events that have been forced to cancel."
Event-goers can also look forward to interactive quizzes and live comedy before the films.
