Inverness Kart Raceway does not yet have a reopening date following last month's fire, which destroyed several neighbouring shops and caused smoke damage to the venue.

The popular karting venue has remained shut ever since the fire at the Fairways Business Park in the early hours of March 9.

But in a fresh update this week, the raceway has thanked the community for its "patience and continued support" as it works towards reopening.

And although it does not yet have an opening date, the it said the recent demolition of the fire-hit shop buildings next door has marked a "significant step forward in the recovery process".

Providing its latest update, a spokesperson for the raceway said: "We would like to provide an update regarding our temporary closure.

"As many of you are aware, we have been closed due to the fire at Fairways Business Park. That affected building has now been fully demolished, marking a significant step forward in the recovery process.

"At this stage, we do not yet have access to our main entrance, and we are working closely with the relevant authorities to ensure that all necessary building regulations and safety measures are met before reopening.

"We understand how eager our customers are to return, and we truly appreciate your patience and continued support during this time.

"We are committed to keeping you informed and will share further updates as soon as we have a confirmed reopening timeline."

Police continue to investigate the fire, which was started deliberately by a balaclava-clad suspect whop reversed a car into one of the shop units next door, and firebombed it before fleeing the scene.
