Around 100 people in 30 cars turned up at a popular city transport café to help raise more than £1000 for Highland Hospice.
They took part in a socially distanced in-car entertainment event which included a special prize bingo session.
Café V8 on Henderson Road hosts regular bingo sessions throughout the year in aid of the hospice and other good causes, but with lockdown restrictions curtailing indoor activity, manager David MacDougall took the game outside.
The DJ for the evening was Gary Tuach who provided the PA system through which the numbers were called.
Delighted with the turnout Mr MacDougall said: “We’ve done a few for the likes of the hospice and local groups that have no way of fundraising due to the current situation. So we came up with the idea of doing a prize bingo outside.”
One of the organisers was Angela MacFarlane, who Mr MacDougall said also supplied most of the prizes on the night. He added: “I think it made £1100 for the hospice.”
A regular customer, he paid tribute to Ms MacFarlane for organising the event single-handed.
“For one person it’s a great achievement,” he said.
“It’s a lot easier for a group to do it!”
Mr MacDougall said that as well as the bingo there were other fun activities on the night, including dancing, where participants could win prizes.
He added: “We were fortunate with the weather – it was great on Saturday night. We’ve done six or seven events with her, and I am sure she’s raised about £10,000.”
