Fundraising cycle ride from Gdansk to The Gellions gets off to a good start – Alasdair Fraser from Inverness is raising funds for the Ukraine appeal
A fundraising cycle ride in aid of Ukraine between Poland and the Highlands has got off to a good start.
Alasdair Fraser, from Inverness, left Gdansk yesterday and is hoping to make it to The Gellions for a well-earned pint.
In a social media post today he said: "Just leaving rainy Debki. Luckily I got the tent down and everything packed before it started.
"Unless a storm fails to materialise, only planning 30 miles today. Some great sponsors in the last couple of days who I will thank when I can, including £250 from the local newspaper company."
He camped overnight where he met a "wee campsite pal". In another post yesterday he said the dog came over with his owners who struck up conversation. He added: "Tell you what, he's bright and clever and, more importantly, he loves bananas."
Mr Fraser said yesterday was fantastic and added: "Great feeling to be back free and doing what I love, bike touring."
