Fundraising page launched to support hairdresser who lost equipment in Inverness fire
A GoFundMe page has been launched to support a professional hair stylist whose place of work has been ravaged in a fire.
Bekah Toland worked for Hair Chic, one of several businesses destroyed after a deliberate fire was started in the early hours of Sunday morning at Fairways Business Park.
Bekah’s sister-in-law, Liz, set up the fundraising page for her, to help her buy new equipment.
Having rented a chair at Hair Chic since 2017, Bekah has amassed a loyal clientele.
Liz wrote on the GoFundMe page: “Businesses like Hair Chic rent out chairs to independent stylists like Bekah, and in the wake of this fire, all of her supplies, and by extension her livelihood, have been completely destroyed.
“As a responsible small business owner, Bekah did have insurance, but it unfortunately, does not cover her materials in criminal incidences like these, as the investigation will likely take months or even years to culminate, thus leaving independent workers like her in a huge bind.
“I've set up this humble page to try and garner some financial support to get Bekah back on her feet, and recoup some of her supplies.
“These include hair products like shampoos, conditioners, styling products etc, and tools like hair dryers, hair colours, brushes, combs, etc. Professional gear isn't cheap, and for someone with Bekah's skill, they are essential to maintaining her high-quality service.
“Bekah is someone who is always cheerful, thoughtful and bends over backwards for her clients and family, and I was just hoping to return the favour.
“If you can spare even a couple of dollars/pounds to help out an independent, woman-owned business that was affected by the neglectful actions of thoughtless criminals, it would mean the absolute world.”
Bekah and Hair Chic have been contacted for comment.
