Doors open event at Inverness funeral directors
THE public is being invited to take a sneak peek inside a city business which normally operates behind closed doors.
John Fraser and Son funeral directors, in Chapel Street, is bringing back its popular Doors Open Day on Saturday as it aims to demystify the unusually discussed subject of undertaking.
Running from 10am – 2pm, the event will allow families and individuals to enjoy tours of the service room, memorials and coffin workshops as well as garages and the mortuary. This is the fourth time the Doors Open Day has been held.
John Fraser and Son proprietor Vicki Fraser explained the thinking behind the experience.
She said: “Our events have always been really popular in the past.
“We want to open up the conversation about a taboo topic, and make people feel more comfortable with our services whenever a bereavement arises.
“It also allows families to discuss their plans for what they want to happen when they pass.
“We want to make this less of a daunting experience for people, and show them how they will be helped by our team whenever the time comes.”
Visitors will have the opportunity to chat to team members and ask any questions they might have about funerals, memorials, pre-paid plans, and how their loved ones will be looked after while they are in the funeral home’s care.
Ms Fraser added: “Our team are on call 24/7 and we ensure that families who have lost loved ones receive the care they deserve in an extremely hard time.
“We hope by opening our doors up, families will be able to have conversations about the topic, and what we do will be demystified.”
“The dignity and anonymity of all who are in our care at the time of the event will be fully respected.”
John Fraser and Son was established in Inverness in 1884, and has always been a family-run business, committed to offering personal, professional funeral services to the whole community.
In 2013, it opened a new funeral home in Dingwall, to complement its premises in the Highland capital.
