Further disruption for Inverness air passengers as EasyJet flight cancelled
Air passengers travelling from Inverness have faced further disruption due to cancelled flights.
There was anger and upset after passengers were told last night's EasyJet flight from Inverness to Gatwick was being cancelled about two hours after it should have left.
It should have left at 9.10pm but passengers say the cancellation was not announced until after 11pm and then they had to wait to retrieve their luggage.
It followed disruption earlier in the day when two London-bound flights from Inverness were cancelled after storms swept the UK.
Yesterday's EasyJet flight due to leave for Gatwick at 7.05am was cancelled along with the 7am British Airway flight to Heathrow.
On Sunday, the Inverness-bound EasyJet flight from Luton and British Airways flight from Heathrow were also cancelled.
One Inverness woman was forced to give up on a planned two-night break in London following the cancellations of EasyJet flights.
She was due to catch yesterday morning's flight to Gatwick but when that was cancelled rearranged to take the one last night.
After waiting to retrieve her bag after the evening flight was also cancelled, she finally got back home in the early hours of this morning.
She felt the cancellation could have been announced before it was and felt sorry for passengers who were there with young children.
"It was an absolute shambles," she said.
"It is really annoying. It is disappointing more than anything."
Others took to social media to voice their frustration.
One posted: "Inverness flight this evening has suffered constant delays, leaving two pensioners stuck in the airport for hours while you’ve messed around, only to now announce the flight won’t go until midday tomorrow. How is this acceptable?"
Another said: "Trying to leave Inverness with EasyJet is unforgettable. Delays delays delays."
