Nairn Drama Club is about to make its debut performance in a new venue with their pantomime Aladdin.

The club’s cast of more than 20 have completed months of rehearsals and are thrilled to be back performing before their supporters, who have snapped up all the tickets for the four shows on Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings and a matinee performance on Saturday at Nairn Community and Arts Centre.

Director and choreographer Dionne Montiero said: “We’re delighted to be able to bring back the panto this year and looking forward to performing on a bigger stage to a larger audience.

“The cast includes all the favourites and a few new faces too.

“There are 12 adults and one junior in the principal roles and nine dancers in the chorus aged from eight to 15.”

The script was written by club member Jean Morrison and this is the second time it has been performed by the club, which has moved to the larger venue because of pandemic-related ventilation restrictions.

“The club is excited to be able to stage the show in the larger facilities of the centre, albeit missing the intimacy of the Little Theatre,” Dionne said.

“The panto was written by Jean and co-directed myself, assisted by Megan-Louise Fraser. It promises to lift the spirits and set the community up for the Christmas season.”
