Gorse fire: man ( 31) charged

POLICE have charged a 31-year-old man in connection with a large gorse fire at Kingston last Tuesday.

Around a mile of gorse and woodland was destroyed in the blaze.

Police and firefighters were called to the scene at Beach Road in Kingston, Moray last Tuesday at 4.41pm. It took several hours to bring the fire under control.

A report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal.

A police spokesperson said: "We would like to thank the public for their patience and support while we carried out our enquiries."

Police across Moray and the Highlands have issued their seasonal advice for people to be cautious in the countryside with the weather warming up and more people meeting outdoors with lockdown easing.
