Has work begun on new Domino’s pizza takeaway in Inverness?
Has work begun to fit out the site of Inverness’s next Domino’s pizza takeaway?
The famous chain already operates two outlets in the Highland capital - one in the city centre on Academy Street, and another on Balloan Road near to the Southern Distributor road.
But a third appears to be in the works after planning applications linked to Domino’s were approved for a site in the Longman earlier this year.
The unit in question, at 2 Henderson Road, is the former home of Pagazzi Lighting and was most recently occupied by a New Start Highland pop-up shop.
But the building's owner secured planning permission early this year to change the use of the unit and carry out internal and externa; modifications so it could house two separate hot food takeaways.
And a second application, this time to erect Domino’s branded signs on the exterior of the site, was also approved by Highland Council.
Now security fencing has been erected around the front of the unit, with passers-by noting debris piles inside it - suggesting work inside the building is under way.
However, it is unclear at this stage when the likely new Domino’s outlet will open. The chain was remaining tight lipped when approached this week for an update, and it is not clear how long the internal fitting out of the site will take to make it ready for occupants.
