Have your bins been missed? Highland Council issues rubbish collection advice following storms
Households whose bin collections have been missed due to disruption from the recent heavy snows and gales have been given an update by Highland Council.
Residents whose bins were missed in Sutherland, Ross & Cromarty, Skye & Lochalsh, and rural Lochaber are being advised that additional waste can be bagged and left beside bins for the next scheduled collection.
Normally only waste within household bins will be collected and additional bags will be ignored, but one-off exceptions will be made in only those geographical areas when the next collections are made.
However, any other areas of the Highlands which had their collections missed are being urged to leave their bins out for collection as soon as possible, with the council looking to return to collect missed bins in the coming days.
A Highland Council spokesperson said: "We will be unable to return to empty missed bins in Sutherland, Skye & Lochalsh, Ross & Cromarty and rural Lochaber. Additional waste can be neatly bagged and placed beside bins for the next scheduled collection.
"In all other areas, leave your missed bin out for collection ASAP."
