Inverness man repeatedly punched partner
A 24-year-old Inverness man who turned violent during a conversation with his partner in bed has been ordered to carry out 180 hours of unpaid community work as an alternative to a jail sentence.
Jordan Hooper, of Academy Street, who admitted the January 22, 2024 domestic assault as well as recent similar convictions, appeared for sentence before Sheriff Neil Wilson after a background report had been prepared.

Hooper had pleaded guilty to assaulting his partner or ex partner in his property by straddling her body, pinning her to a bed and repeatedly punching her on the body. He also seized her by the leg and pulled her off the bed.
Defence solicitor David Patterson told Inverness Sheriff Court: "He is quite ashamed and so he should be. He knows this shouldn't have happened. He was the victim of a serious assault himself and sustained a significant head injury and it started him drinking again.
"Since this, there has been no contact with the complainer."
Because of this, Sheriff Wilson decided against imposing a non-harassment order to protect Hooper's victim.
