Heavy snow between Inverness and Aviemore causes disruption to ScotRail services on the Highland mainline
HEAVY snow on the Highland mainline was causing delays for railway passengers on Friday morning.
ScotRail has warned passengers to expect some disruption to services after heavy snowfalls caused issues for signalling equipment.
A spokesman for the company said: "Heavy snow between Inverness and Aviemore is causing problems with signalling equipment at multiple locations. Services between these stations will be delayed or revised."
The disruption comes amid a yellow weather warning from the Met Office, which has warned of heavy snow over the Cairngorms and Grampian mountains.
Motorists have been urged to take care, and major roads have also been affected – with snow lying on parts of the A9 and A95.
Traffic Scotland's live cameras at Daviot, Slochd, Grantown and the Drumochter Pass all show snow sitting on the road surface.
