Highlands and Islands Airports confirms more direct flights between Inverness and Mallorca with JetsGo
MORE flights linking Inverness and Mallorca will take off in October next year to help meet demand.
Inverness Airport operator Highlands and Islands Airports has announced three new flights to Mallorca with operator JetsGo.
The decision to launch the 2020 flights follows the success of the 2019 service, which operates next month between the Highland capital and Palma, capital of the Balearic island.
JetsGo has announced an extended flying schedule for 2020 with four departures leaving on September 27 and October 4, 11, and 18, offering a total of 756 seats on the direct flight to Palma, doubling what the company offered for 2019.
Inverness Airport general manager Graeme Bell said: “There has been considerable demand from Highland holidaymakers for the Mallorca service in 2019 and we are delighted that JetsGo has already committed to an extended service next year.
"For many people, October is the ideal time to visit Mallorca. The weather is usually warm and sunny and the island is a little less busy than it can be during the height of summer.
“Being able to access popular tourism destinations direct from Inverness makes it much easier for local travellers who don’t have a long journey to and from other Scottish airports, saving them time and money.”
Inverness Airport welcomed a record 909,159 passengers in 2018/19, compared with 897,000 passengers in the previous 12 months.
JetsGo director Daniel Reilly said: “We could have sold many more seats this year as demand exceeded supply for the Inverness-Palma route which is now fully sold out for 2019. We have been very happy with the success of the service and we are delighted that we are now able to double capacity in 2020 to offer more choice for holidaymakers.”
