After losing her own mother, Mrs Munro wanted to help other families going through hard times. She has worked in various parts of the hospice – reception, on the bereavement team, as well as having weekly phone calls with a client she befriended as part of the Helping Hands Befriending Team.
The hospice expressed its gratitude to Mrs Munro – and other selfless volunteers like her – at its Voluntary Long Service Awards in Inverness Town House.
"Louise has always loved helping people and has found it easy relating to people," said a hospice spokeman. "Thank you so much to Louise and to all that attended, and a huge congratulations to our award winners!"
He added: "We hold these awards every year, recognising volunteers who have completed 5-35 years of service.
"We had a lovely evening with all of the volunteers that are are such an integral piece of the puzzle that makes up Highland Hospice."
