Highland Mainline closed after train derailment

Following the closure of the Highland Mainline this morning between Inverness and Perth - following the derailment of a freight train at slow speed near Culloden overnight - the route north from Perth to Aviemore has now reopened.

Services are still running via Aberdeen and some replacement buses are in operation from Perth, though Scotrail advises these are "extremely limited" and is advising passengers to make their own arrangements if possible.

Scotrail tickets and smartcards can be used on Stagecoach North services between Aberdeen and Inverness, on bus services 10, 35 and 37 from stations at Aberdeen, Inverurie, Huntly, Keith, Elgin, Forres, Nairn and Inverness and between Aberdeen and Dyce.

More updates as we get them.
