Highland Pride confirm new parade route through Inverness city centre through 2025 – and this year’s party performers
Highland Pride have confirmed the route that their march will take through Inverness city centre this summer.
This year the celebration’s parade and party will both take place on the same day, with the LGBTQ+ charity previously announcing that it will take place on Saturday, June 7.
Now, more details have been confirmed, with the starting location of this year’s march changing from previous years.
Subject to final approval from Highland Council, rather than starting at Crown Primary School and making its way down Stephen’s Brae, the 2025 parade will instead begin from Falcon Square, which should lead to fewer issues for those with mobility issues who want to join.
From there, the parade will progress along the High Street and across the bridge, before turning down Ness Walk to Eden Court.
That is where the 2025 Highland Pride party will take place, with the likes of Venus Guytrap, Sugar Browne, Dassh and Inverness Musical Theatre set to perform in the Empire Theatre.
Tickets for the party, which will be free of charge and open to people of all ages, will be made available from the Eden Court website in due course.
In keeping with previous years, there will be several groups represented around the parade and party too.
Four trucks from the Highland Food Trail will be open for business along Ness Walk, while Leap Sports and their partner clubs will be putting on sports demos outside Eden Court.
Mikeysline will also be parking their mobile base outside for people to learn about their work, and there will be a market with stalls featuring the likes of Perk Doughnuts, Highland Gifts and other charities and Pride partners.
Highland Pride chairman Simon Allison commented: “We listened to feedback from last year, and have booked the parade and party on the same day, and earlier in the year to avoid the holidays.
“We hope that we can once again be a welcoming city for LGBTQ+ visitors, and include as many local young people and families in the celebrations as possible
“We’ve worked hard on a show that is bigger and bolder than last year, and now in the Empire Theatre, even more people can experience music at a bigger scale!
“We are thankful for the funding we have been granted by Awards for All, but can only continue with our plans thanks to the generosity of local business sponsors like LifeScan, Macleod Roofing Ltd, Parklands Care homes, and Mary Macfarlane Financial Planning. Get in touch with us if you would like to join them and offer your support info@highlandpride.org.”
More event details, including timings and other features, are still to be announced by Highland Pride.
