Highlander Gary Cornish to face Anthony Joshua in London
UNBEATEN Highland heavyweight Gary Cornish will face his ultimate challenge on September 12 when he steps into the ring with Olympic champion Anthony Joshua at the O2 in London.
The duo will fight for the the vacant Commonwealth heavyweight title, live on Sky Sports, in the Inverness boxer's biggest ever test.
Joshua (25) boasts an incredible 13 knock-outs from 13 fights and has yet to be taken beyond round three.
Cornish, who is bossed by Tommy Gilmour and promoted by Kellie Maloney, has won all 21 pro contests, 12 of which have been by knock-out.
He won't be fazed either by heading to London to take on the Watford-born star, as he's won three times there already, although he's faced no-one close to Joshua's class yet.
The London 2012 gold medal winner is set to fight Dillian Whyte for the British heavyweight title in November or December.
Cornish (28) defeated Hungarian Zoltan Csala in the fourth round in his last ring appearance in Glasgow in May.
