Homes in the Highlands in TV spotlight in search for Scotland's Home of the Year
Three homes in the Highlands will come under the scrutiny of a trio of property experts as they travel the country for the popular BBC TV series, Scotland’s Home of the Year.
The show, in its third series, sees Anna Campbell-Jones, Michael Angus and Kate Spiers award points to homes as they decide on a winner to go through to the final.
Tomorrow’s episode – at 8pm on BBC Scotland – features the Colonel’s House in Inverness, built in 1897 to house the Colonel of Cameron Barracks.
It was bought by the present owners in 2011 when it was a guest house.
Since then, the three-storey property has been completely renovated into one family home with an eclectic style which changes from room to room and floor to floor.
Also in the spotlight is The Mansion House, part of Lentran House which dates back to 1866 and was formerly the Inverness Provost’s residence and an RAF building, before being split to create six separate dwellings.
The third home is Saltire House in Aviemore. Although it is new-build in the heart of the Cairngorms National Park, its design was inspired by Glasgow's famous architect, Charles Rennie Mackintosh.
