Inverness car dealership merges with Culloden Cars
A Highland business owner has moved from strength to strength over the last four years.
When Craig Walker (44) opened his car dealership, Top Car Inverness, he was the only person working there. Now he has 11 staff and has just taken over Culloden Cars and is merging both businesses together.
Speaking about the merger, Mr Walker, who is lives in Nairn, said: “I took over Culloden Cars, and it’s been a bit of a challenge having the businesses split over two sites.
“Top Car Inverness will now merge with Culloden Cars and we will have all our staff in one site. It’s a little bit sad that Top Cars is going but I had a great opportunity and it just made sense to put all our strengths into one house.”
For his customers, everything will remain the same except the name. Top Car Inverness will move from Harbour Road to the premises in Culloden, but the garage aspect of the business will still be called Top Car Services.
The growth of the business has been very unexpected for Mr Walker, who had handed in his notice at his job when the pandemic started.
He said: “I had worked as the general manager at Ford in Elgin, and then went to work at Moto Novo Finance. Top Car was then available for sale and I handed in my notice at my job. Just then Covid came along and I had no idea what was going to happen.
“Now we have 11 staff and are merging two businesses together. It really is a good local story.”
He added: “I just want to say a massive thank you to Donnie Macdonald who I am buying Culloden Cars from. He has been an incredible support and has given me a great opportunity.”
