The owner of Blend Tea & Coffee Merchants on Drummond Street has asked visitors to ‘be kind’ after her former business and life partner was killed in a tragic fire.

Gemma Taylor, whose ex-partner and father of her daughter Andy Adams – and former co-owner of Blend – lost his life in a blaze that hit buildings on Tomatin Road on Thursday, has put a notice in the cafe ‘to not shout at staff’ as they have had to reduce their menu and their hours.

The notice reads: “To visitors, the owner lost everything in a tragic house fire last week. Menus are slightly reduced and we will close slightly earlier. Please be kind, don’t shout at staff because we close at 5pm rather than 6pm this week.”

She has posted a picture of the sign on the business’ Facebook page and explained that ‘it apparently needs to be said’.

However, she has said locals have been ‘absolutely lovely’ and she ‘can’t thank everyone enough for their support’.

She added: “I know it's very hard to find the words but even buying a cup of coffee is very appreciated, no words needed.”
