THE start of 2020 is set to herald a landmark year for Inverness with a range of exciting key developments and projects including the transformation of Inverness Castle due to forge ahead.

The vision for 2020 in the Highland capital among civic and business leaders is one of a more vibrant city centre with more hotels and bars, attractions and a thriving retail sector.

It is the year set to see the redevelopment of Inverness Castle into a visitor attraction celebrating "the spirit of the Highlands" make progress once the courts and tribunal service relocates to a new justice centre in the spring.

Other developments include the £1.5 million revamp of the Victorian Market and the creation of new flats and retail space at the former Farmfoods site in Academy Street.
