A 47-year-old motorist who was caught driving with excess alcohol for a second time was banned from the road for four years at Inverness Sheriff Court.

George Bradley, of Scorguie Drive, Inverness appeared before Sheriff Sara Matheson for sentence after previously admitting driving with over five times the legal amount of alcohol in his system.

His reading was 118mcgs when the legal limit is 22mcgs.

The court heard it was the second time he had committed such an offence.

Bradley was stopped in King Brude Road, Inverness on June 3.

Defence solicitor Graham Mann said: "The reading is exceptionally high. He had been out drinking and it was very bad decision making by him to drive his car."

Bradley was also ordered to carry out 180 hours of unpaid community work.

Sheriff Matheson certified him suitable for the drink-driver rehabilitation course which will earn Bradley one year off his ban if he successfully completes it.
