AS well as providing a vital news service, The Inverness Courier was also important for traders and businesses to promote their goods and services.

One advertisement in 1821 announced the sale of part of Dochgarroch Estate, about four miles from Inverness, declaring it to be situated in "one of the most romantic and healthy districts of the North of Scotland".

Other selling points included the convenient proximity of the Parliamentary road to Fort Augustus and the newly-built Caledonian Canal offering landing for coal, lime and shipping produce.
