Inverness fabric shop owners thank ‘fabulous community’ for support after devastating fire in Old Hilton
The owners of a popular Inverness crafts shop which was hit by the “catastrophic” fire which claimed the life of an Inverness man asked for patience from their customers after the blaze “rocked their lives” and destroyed the premises.
The blaze, which hit a Tomatin road building in the early hours of Thursday (July 11) and in which hospitality stalwart Andy Adams lost his life, devastated The Wee Fabric Shop’s premises, as well as damaging several other businesses in the area.
On a post on Facebook, owner Marice Gneba expressed condolences to the neighbours and asked for the patience of their loyal customers as her and co-owner Fiona Mackie work out their next steps.
She wrote: “This has been a tough message to write. There has been a catastrophic fire in our building, Devastating and tragic for our neighbours above, to whom we wish our heartfelt condolences.
“It's early days and we have every wish to return, this is going to be a long process. Bear with us while we work out where we go from here. The damage to our wee shop is immense, the stock is not salvageable, the place is not safe, we are not allowed access.
“Fiona and I would like to thank you so much for all your messages of support, they were overwhelming and showed us what a fabulous community you are.
“We will reply to all of you, please be patient though, this has rocked our personal lives too.”
