Disruption to Inverness-Glasgow Queen Street rail journeys after person struck by a train between Queen Street and Lenzie/Falkirk High, ScotRail confirms
RAIL services between Inverness and Glasgow have been disrupted after a person was hit by a train between Falkirk High and Glasgow Queen Street, ScotRail has announced.
The rail operator warned passengers that the line is closed and that disruption is likely to last until at least around 3pm.
“Unfortunately we have had reports of a person being struck by a train between Queen Street and Lenzie, because of this services will be disrupted,” said a spokesman. “We are working closely with emergency services and will update you once we receive more information from our staff on the ground.”
There was no immediate word on the condition of the person struck by the train.
Passengers affected by delays or cancellations have been advised that they can travel via Edinburgh instead but that “these services will be extremely busy”.
ScotRail added that it was "activating ticket acceptance with the local bus suppliers" and that once this was in place it will update passengers.
