A gym in Inverness has set a provisional reopening date.

Gym 300 was among scores of business that closed in mid-March due to the coronavirus lockdown.

While many other businesses have been reopening, Scottish Government has not set a date for gyms – but it has said it will not be before July 31.

A spokesman for Gym 300 said: "As everyone anticipates an announcement by the Scottish Government on a possible reopening date for gyms and leisure clubs we are going to set a provisional reopening date of August 10.

"This date has been chosen so that we can give our direct debit providers an indication that we do intend on reopening and thus sell memberships to anyone who wishes to rejoin the gym or join as a new member.

"If the green light is given to reopen prior to the 10th then we hope to have as many members as possible ready to get back in the gym working out with hygiene and safety measures set in place."

He added: "It’s been a long and sometimes difficult lockdown for everyone and as it appears to be nearing it’s end we look forward to seeing you all once again working hard to achieve your goals."
