Inverness named as the UK city, along with Derby, which offers the cheapest beers with an average price of £3 per pint
A new survey has shown that Inverness drinkers can enjoy one of the cheapest pints in the UK.
While in some parts of the country they would have to fork out £6 for just one pint of beer the average price in the Highland capital is half that.
In some Wetherspoon pubs in some parts of London customers were expected to pay £6.29 for just one beer.
The survey was carried out by comparison site Finder compiled a list of which cities offered the cheapest beers and what the average pint costs.
Alongside Inverness the average price in Derby is also £3 followed closely by Kingston upon Hull at £3.32.
In Perth the average price was £3.46, in Gloucester it was £3.50, Peterborough was £3.50, Leicester was £3.63, Swansea was £3.65 and in Aberdeen it was £3.67.
And in Preston it was £3.69, in Aberystwyth the average was £3.70, in Northampton it was £3.74, in Coventry the average was £3.78, in Leeds it was £3.79, in Plymouth it was £3.84 and in Newcastle upon Tyne the average was £3.88.
The final four places in the top 20 were Southend-on-Sea at £3.91, Reading at £3.99, Exeter at £4.00 and Ipswich at £4.00.
Finder, also carried out a similar comparison last year, used two resources to work out these results: consumer price database Numbeo and cost of living calculator Expatistan.
It has been forecast that, with the current rates of inflation, that the price of a pint in London could go up to £10.50 by the end of the decade.
Drink costs are expected to soar in the coming years, adding £4.50 to the cost of what is already the UK’s most expensive pint.
