Inverness is top destination
Paris topped the Europe Top Ten list, with Cape Town, South Africa, ranked highest in the World Top Ten.
"These awards honour the world’s best destinations as decided by those judges that really matter — travellers themselves," explained TripAdvisor spokeswoman Emma O’Boyle. "These awards are testament to Scotland’s impressive beauty and welcoming country, which has clearly impressed a great deal of visitors."
London was ranked top.
Glasgow trailed in 11th place, followed by Aberdeen and Oban in 20th and 25th respectively.
Inverness was placed in eighth, with Edinburgh in second and St Andrews in ninth place.
Scotland is home to six of the UK’s top 25 destinations, with three ranking in the top ten.
The travel site yesterday unveiled the winners of its 2011 Travellers’ Choice Destination Awards, which honour the top destinations based on travellers’ experiences.
INVERNESS has been ranked amongst the top 10 UK destinations by Trip Advisor.
