Inverness Library joins the bounceback campaign and will reopen on Monday following the easing of coronavirus lockdown restrictions
High Life Highland is taking the first steps in its Inverness bounceback campaign next week with the introduction of a collect and return service at Inverness Library.
From Monday library customers will be able to access items by requesting them in advance and booking a timeslot for collection.
Julie Corcoran, the principal libraries manager, said: “The safety of our customers, our staff and our communities is our priority as we look to begin providing services again at our libraries across the Highlands.
“We will be introducing a limited service at Inverness Library with the library opening on July 27 initially on a collect and return basis. This means customers can phone or email the library to request items and collect them during their allocated timeslot.
“We hope to gradually reinstate library browsing and access to our public access computing facilities shortly thereafter as we introduce a range of appropriate measures to ensure the safety of both customers and staff.
"Amongst others, these measures will include a computer booking system, social distancing and the introduction of enhanced cleaning routines around the library.
“The process has already been tested and implemented in other libraries, where we’ve had a steady stream of customers all welcoming the return of the service and offering very positive feedback on how the system is working.
“We very much look forward to welcoming our customers, regulars and new, back to a full library service when it is safe and appropriate to do so.”
