A 24-year-old man has appeared in private at Inverness Sheriff Court in connection with an alleged robbery in the city.

Ryan Renicks, from Inverness, appeared before Sheriff Eilidh Macdonald today accused of assault by threats and robbery on Saturday, June 8. He made no plea, was committed for further examination and remanded in custody.

A police appeal earlier this week followed an alleged incident which occurred at around 12.30pm on Saturday when a 41-year-old man was approached by a man “with a knife” in Old School Place and “demanded money from him”. Police said the man was not injured in the incident but was left “badly shaken".
