Andrew Bell (37) was committed for further examination before being released on bail.

His appearance at Inverness Sheriff Court came after Police Scotland revealed yesterday that a quantity of herbal cannabis valued at around £60,000 had been recovered from a van stopped by officers in the Clachnaharry area of the city shortly before 7pm on Monday.

A four-figure sum of cash was also recovered from the vehicle.

Detective Inspector Peter Mackenzie said: “Our work relies on the support of the public who do not accept those intent on causing this damage to our communities.”
