Inverness man ordered to carry out unpaid work after an assault
An Inverness man has been ordered to carry out unpaid work after an assault.
Benjamin Drummond (53) appeared at Inverness Sheriff Court and admitted assaulting his victim to severe injury and danger of life outside the city’s Lochalsh Stores on the night of October 28, 2023.
Drummond’s defence solicitor, Marc Dickson, said that his client wanted to apologise unreservedly to his victim.
He also said that the danger to life was ‘in theory’.

He said: “Mr Drummond was living, at this stage, a fairly paranoid existence.
“His background included an attempt on his own life when he was struck on purpose by a vehicle and was left feeling vulnerable in the community.”
Sheriff Ian Cruickshank ordered Drummond, of Wyvis Place, Inverness, to carry out 200 hours of unpaid work and pay £750 of compensation as a direct alternative to custody.
