Inverness parkrun cancelled after Travellers arrive at Torvean

This Saturday’s Inverness parkrun has been cancelled after Travellers arrived at Torvean Park.

Organisers said the decision not to stage the event was due to unforeseen circumstances but did not go into specifics.

However a day after hundreds of youngsters enjoyed completing in the annual McRobert Cup at the same site, a number of people in several vehicles have set up on a grassy area which is surrounded by the route used for the weekly parkrun event.

Torvean parkrun stated: “Due to unforeseen circumstances we’re very sorry that we’ve had to cancel this Saturday’s parkrun.

“We’ll keep you updated next week with any more developments.”

There has been no decision announced yet about the weekly junior parkrun event at the same location due to take place this Sunday.
