A new piri-piri chicken takeaway and restaurant is currently on course to open its doors sometime in March.

Maeme’s, which is currently being fitted out, will operate from a unit within the Eastgate entrance of the Eastgate Shopping Centre in Inverness.

It will be the latest in a string of outlets for the chain across the UK, and which already runs an eatery in Aberdeen and has plans for one in Glasgow.

It won planning approval last year to change the use of the vacant unit in the Eastgate - which boasts entrances onto the street and into the interior of the shopping centre.

Around seven to nine jobs are expected to be created when it opens its doors.

And, speaking to the Courier last week, Maeme’s Inverness’s operator confirmed that remodelling work is progressing well.

Although they were unable to give a specific opening date, they believe it will be ready to open sometime in March - barring any unforeseen circumstances with the fitting out process.

They added that the planned opening will be marked by a number of customer offers - including 50 per cent off deals.
