A popular pub in Inverness has shut its doors.

The landlords of the Blacksmiths Pub & Cantonese Restaurant in Culloden held a farewell party at the weekend as they said goodbye to their regulars.

Posting to social media, the owners said: "Dear valued customers, we want to inform you that Blacksmiths will be closing its doors. But don't worry, this is not a goodbye! We're excited to announce that Blacksmiths Chinese will be making a grand return at The Golden Fry near the end of October (exact date to be confirmed).

"We can't wait to continue serving you with our beloved Cantonese dishes alongside The Golden Fry's chip shop classics.

"Thank you for your continued support and loyalty. We look forward to welcoming you back soon."

It is believed that Heineken will be taking over the running of the Blacksmiths in Culloden.

Heineken has been contacted for comment.
