A road in Inverness has been closed after a tree fell down blocking it on both sides this afternoon.

Inverness councillor Duncan Macpherson shared on his social media picture of what he described as an oak tree on Caulfield Road North between the entrance to the Inverness Campus of the University of the Highlands and Cradlehall Business Park.

He said that Highland Council’s Out-of-Hours Emergency Team have been advised of the hazard on the road.

This comes after a yellow weather warning for strong winds in place for the northern Highlands was extended to other parts of the region earlier today, with disruption set to last until around 5pm today.

Caution is advised when approaching the area.
