REPAIRS are complete on a dangerous chimney which forced the closure of Inverness Royal Academy two days before the start of the October half-term holiday.

Highland Council yesterday confirmed that work was finished and that the school will reopen as normal next week.

The school was closed on 9th October after a routine inspection of the boiler flue highlighted structural concerns.

"The school was closed as a precaution to allow further inspections and repair work to be carried out," said a council spokeswoman.

"Access scaffold will be removed off site over this weekend and staff will return to the 930 pupil school on Monday for their in-service Day and pupils will return from their October holidays the following day."
